Celebrity Gretna Green Weddings At The Mill Forge

Celebrity weddings can cause quite a stir in a small town like Gretna Green. Here we take a look at some of the celebrities who've chosen to get married at The Mill Forge

When you think of a wedding involving famous people it's easy to expect A-list guests, the wedding story and photographs sold to magazines and diva-like demands. As one of the country's most popular wedding ceremony venues we have had a number of famous faces marry on the premises

Kerry Katona

Kerry Katona famously married her taxi driver boyfriend Mark Croft on the 14th of February 2007 in The Mill Forge.

Miss Katona was a member of girl band Atomic Kitten before embarking on a TV career which saw her feature in reality shows about her life

The whole affairwas arranged in secret by the groom with the help of a Mill Forge wedding planner. OK magazine had bought the rights to their wedding and ran a feature as well as providing the wedding photographer. Her status meant that there was a large number of journalists and photographers all trying to get an exclusive picture or scoop the story. A number of security men were hired to protect the couple's privacy and make sure that the press did not interfere with any other weddings taking place that day

Miss Katona and her groom were married by a minister in a simple religious wedding ceremony and afterwards had a wedding reception with their small party of friends and family before retiring to their bridal suite. Sadly because of the presence of all the journalists she spent most of her time with us in her bridal suite away from the glare of the cameras.

John Wark

Former Scotland, Ipswich and Liverpool footballer John Wark was married at The Mill Forge to Karen Taylor on the 25th of April 2009. A former PFA Players Player Of The Year and European Young Player Of The Year, he also had a small part in the film Escape To Victory alongside such names as Sylvester Stallone, Pele, Michael Caine and Bobby Moore

He and his bride Karen chose The Mill Forge as their wedding venue, stayed in our ensuite accommodation and had a wedding reception with us. Pictures were taken by one of the local wedding photographers and they also hired a Scottish wedding piper. When he came to get married he came without any of the trappings you'd expect from a former international footballer and was very down to earth mixing with others in our conservatory bar and taking time to speak to the people who recognised him.
