Thank you very much to all of your staff for making our stay at The Forge a wonderful one. Our wedding was fantastic and Jamie made everything run smoothly. The wedding breakfast was perfect!

Just wanted to say a very big Thank You to everyone for making our special day so fantastic. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. We travelled from Staffordshire with 24 close family and friends. The Bridal Suite was absolutely wonderful with plenty of room for us all to get ready and the whole place was absolutely spotless.
The ladies from Fiona & June did a fantastic job of my hair and make up. My hair was done exactly how I wanted it, everyone commented on how lovely it looked.
All our guests commented on how great the food was and the service was second to none. We never had to wait for anything and the waitresses were always very pleasant.
Would love to do it all again as we all had such a fantastic weekend and the weather was kind to us.
Our service was conducted by Pastor Sandy Jamieson. What a lovely man, he injected some humour into the proceedings to put us at ease.
We have some lovely photographs all made the better by the lovely gardens and surroundings they were shot in.
Thanks also to Pipe Major Craig Irving, Wouldn't have been the same without you.

Can I just say, on behalf of myself and my Husband, Mark and all our family. What an absolutely fantastic day we had on Friday .From our arrival on Thursday, right up until we left on Saturday, everything was just perfect. Our bridal suite was amazing, and we truly felt spoilt! All the Staff at The Mill are an absolute credit to the the venue. Nothing was too much trouble, and never once did we feel like we were inconveniencing yourselves in any way.The ceremony was beautiful, and Maggie certainly put everyone at ease, including a very nervous bride! John Carr was our Minister, he was brilliant, and was really good with the children in the party, including our three boys, whom he included in the service. The food was gorgeous, and what a brilliant choice having the buffet menu on such a hot and beautiful day. The girls serving the food were brilliant and really helpful to our party. The desserts were too die for!. The card left on our top table from all at The Mill, what a beautiful touch, and what a surprise. There were a large number of children in our party, of all ages. They were also made to feel really welcome, and the venue was perfect for them, the play area was fantastic, and a very child friendly atmosphere overall. Once again, thank you very much for making our day one that Mark, myself and all the family will cherish with fond memories, and one we will certainly never forget. You all made our day truly special. We will definitely be coming back on our anniversary. Thank you.

Wedding Reviews

We got married and stayed 2 nights including the night before. There was 19 of us including a 3 year old a 2 year old and a 9 month old baby. It's a beautiful place and we couldn't have dreamed the whole experience to be as good as it was we are so pleased that we had decided to get married here as we had never seen it before we went so all the planning was from websites and phone calls.
All the staff are lovely and friendly and are happy to help you with anything. all the rooms were beautiful, very clean (I'm very particular) and had been recently re-decorated the bridal suite is massive and we couldn't believe how beautiful it was the whirlpool bath is amazing and we really appreciated the little touches they included non-alcoholic wine on ice instead of sparkling wine as I don't drink and 2 boxes of chocolates which we had on both days.
The food was beautiful and really big portions! We had a meal the night before at the restaurant and my partner had to eat my sticky toffee pudding as I was too full after my main course! The children's portions were very big too and all of guests enjoyed all the meals.
The forge itself was beautiful and we really did have the most perfect day Maggie the wedding planner was a huge help and everything ran smoothly. We had Fiona and June for hair and makeup, Paul M Taylor for photography and videography, Craig Irving Scottish wedding piper, A Dove Story - dove release and Tartan Carriages horse and carriage ride all services were exceptional and would recommend them all to everyone.

We went for our wedding with our family. Our rooms were amazing, good size, especially the bridal suite (which had gorgeous champagne and chocolates on our arrival). Our family were happy with their rooms, good size and comfortable.
Our meal was gorgeous; all the staff were very friendly and helpful and really made our weekend perfect.
The surroundings were stunning, lots of gorgeous wedding photographs.

My husband and I got married at the Mill Forge with a party of 15 travelling up from Staffordshire.
When we first arrived we were allocated our bridal suite which was stunning, the room was very spacious and spotless.
Most of the other guests stayed at the Mill and were very pleased with their ensuite accommodation also.
The wedding day was fantastic, we had the piper Craig Irving who piped all the guests into the church then he came for the bridesmaids myself and my son who was giving me away.
The service by John Carr was short but lovely and he put my husband and I at ease straight away.
Carrie Irving took our photographs and apart from the constant cheesy smiles for about half an hour they were brilliant, as the gardens were fantastic for our special photographs.
As we were only a small party we had the party corner and the table was laid out perfect with the napkins matching our colour scheme, overall it looked stunning, (the ladies work very hard to get everything just right for you).
The service and the food for our wedding reception was great, it was piping hot and delicious.
There were two other wedding parties that day and we thought the disco was a nice touch for people to mingle and enjoy themselves.
I cannot thank the staff at the Mill Forge enough for making our wedding day truly magnificent.

Reviews of The Mill Forge

We arrived on the Friday for our wedding the following day. There were 45 of us all staying at The Mill. On arrival we all got our keys (2pm) and whilst everyone went to their rooms we made our way to the bridal suite.
The rooms and comfortable, clean, warm and spacious.
The staff cannot do enough for you. We all had restaurant meals on the Friday night and whilst we were advised it could take a while with such a large order it was delivered to us hot and very tasty.
Wedding day dawned and I've never been so calm! The staff there will do anything to help and I think this helped with my nerves! Our wedding was the best day ever! Faultless! Wedding meal was beautiful and the waiting staff very attentive.
Reasonable prices at the bar, I would say average pub prices.
All in all I cannot fault The Mill and we will be returning every year on our anniversary.
If you are thinking of having your wedding here you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I got married at the Mill Forge and we couldn't have been happier with the venue or the staff.
The Forge itself was an excellent venue, it provided a great backdrop for the photos, and the gardens look lovely too, even in late winter/early spring. The wedding planner was very helpful and obviously knowledgeable, which helped put us both at ease, as neither of us had been to many weddings previously, and weren't closely involved in any of them, so would have been less clued up about what to do/where to be.

The meals there were fantastic, the Table D'Hote menu we opted for was delicious, and all of our guests (including one vegetarian) loved it.
The bridal suites were very comfortable, very large (at one point we invited all the guests back to have a look, and even with 12 people in the room, it still didn't feel cramped!) and very tastefully decorated.
Strongly considering re-visiting for an anniversary one year!

I had my wedding and reception at the Forge on 3rd September, and had such a wonderful time. My husband and I travelled down the night before and stayed in the bridal suite for 2 nights and the rest of our family (6), stayed on the wedding night.

Everything went to plan, as the staff is very welcoming, helpful and efficient.
We were only a party of 8, and there were 2 bigger parties, so we got the party room, which was just lovely! Plenty of privacy. Table decorations were lovely, and the welcoming photograph of our wedding, was on the table waiting for us...very touching!

The bridal suite was great and the whirlpool bath amazing. Complimentary chocolates and sparkling wine on both days, and engraved keepsake glasses.

The Forge is so beautiful, which made my wedding photos all the more special, as are the gardens.

A big thank you to Colin Carpenter for my album and DVD, they are amazing. I received them the next day! Also special thanks to Craig Irving, our Scottish wedding piper, who is just wonderful, and gratefully played our requested song. Fiona and June, hair and make-up done a wonderful job on myself and family, and my wedding flowers were from Gretna Flower Basket, and were amazing value for money.

Overall, a truly wonderful time had by all, and will most definitely return for our 1st anniversary.

Thank you for such a perfect Wedding Day . The venue was breath taking and the food was gorgeous - everybody thought so, especially the effort you put into the gluten free. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The Bridal Suite was perfect! A truly Perfect Day. Thank you.

The staff at The Mill Forge were great. Everything was fantastic and if I could do it all again I would.
Maggie was a star making sure that everything went smoothly.
The meal was great no faults what so ever and the waiting staff did a great job.
The gardens are kept very clean and tidy; you can tell a lot of care goes into keeping everything really nice.
In the evening they hold a free disco for everyone who got married on that day and it was perfect everyone got along so well.
I had Craig Irving as my piper and he did me proud and Colin Carpenter as my wedding photographer and my pictures are fantastic.
All in All 10/10

We definitely recommend this place if you're looking to get married in the area!

The staff- were WONDERFUL they put us both at ease and really took care of you! They answered my questions for months before hand over email/phone! We were concerned before we went that it would be like a conveyer belt but it really wasn't, we were treated like we were the only wedding they were looking after that day- they set everything up exactly the way we wanted it and I was very fussy! Just the extra touches they went to from leaving chocolates and wine in our room to a congratulations card at the wedding! The whole day they consulted with us/the wedding party for exactly what to do and what we wanted it took all of the stress out of it!

The gardens at The Mill Forge are lovely, I must admit it rained on our day but there was still plenty of places to take pictures and it certainly didn't dampen our day!

The rooms- the bridal suite is lovely! Its large (which you need when getting ready) the other rooms are pretty basic and plain.

The food- was lovely and the guests get a choice of starters and deserts with the meal package which everyone appreciated!

Value- The prices you see is exactly what it is - there are no hidden charges and so much is just included its excellent value! You do have to pay corkage fees if you want to take your own wine/champagne but you do not pay it until the wines opened- until then they chill it for you!

The disco- don't be put off by the shared disco- by that point everyone is in excellent spirits and you all get the opportunity for a first dance if you want it! The atmosphere was great!

We loved this place we had the perfect wedding and we think our guests loved it too!

We both would like to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful service provided by yourselves on our Wedding Day.
Everything was so perfect. The friendliness of all the staff, the organisation of the day, the meal and buffet and all accommodation was superb, commented on by all our guests.
You made our Wedding Day so very special and enjoyable. We have memories to treasure forever.
Thank you once again, so very much.

I would recommend the The Mill to anyone to get married. We had the most amazing day here, that we will cherish forever. We arrived the day before our wedding, a party of 20. All the management and staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and spotless. We had the Bridal Suite, which was fantastic!! The food is just superb, very fresh and hot, couldn't fault it. We just made to feel so special, although there maybe other weddings taking place the same day, you are made to feel like it's just your day, nothing is too much trouble for them. We wanted a smaller romantic wedding with just our close family, and The Mill was just perfect in everyway!! Our day was everything we hoped for and alot more.
