Mr and Mrs Ross

Today we welcome Mr & Mrs Ross who were married in The Mill Forge on the 20th of August 2014
When and where did you first meet?
We first met in October 2005 whilst working in the same department in a factory. He chatted to me on the factory floor for a while before eventually finding the confidence to come sit with me at lunch times. From there things just progressed from friendship to romance.
How did he/she propose?
He took me on a day trip to the beach at Sandyhills and proposed to me while sitting watching the sea.
How did you first hear about the Mill Forge?
I first heard of the Mill Forge when my parents booked it back in 2005 for their wedding vow renewal. For me the place holds an emotional connection seeing as my mum is no longer with us and so I thought it would be nice to have my ceremony at the same venue where she had had hers.
How did you book?
I visited the Mill in November 2013 with my auntie, dad and husband to be. We were shown around by a lovely lady and after seeing the stunning grounds and the beautiful chapel we booked it that same day.
How many wedding dresses did you try on before buying your dress?
I tried on about 5 dresses in total but my dream dress was actually the 2nd one I tried on. I knew it was the dress for me when it made me cry, also I didn't want to take it off. I tried on a couple more afterwards just to compare but still kept returning to that one dress, that's when I knew.
Who conducted your Wedding Ceremony?
We had the lovely Sandy Jamieson to conduct our wedding ceremony, made both myself and my husband feel very much at ease.
What other services did you book?
We had photography - Captured By Carrie, we were thrilled with our pictures and our album, that lady made us both look photogenic and also put us at ease (some feat seeing as we were both nervous about having our photos taken). We booked our cake with a local Dumfries baker called Pam from Kaixe, my husband designed the cake himself.
Any surprises on the day?
The main surprise we got was ending up with a female photographer instead of a male one. Also getting a little card from hubby for me to read before the ceremony was a nice touch too.
Most romantic or memorable moment of your day?
My most memorable moment of the day was when the doors to the chapel opened and I could hear the music we had chosen being played. I had to really try to contain myself while walking down the aisle to stop myself crying.
Did you have any special songs/music on the day?
For my entrance and for walking down the aisle we had "Of This Land" by Clannad and then we had just a mix of other Celtic music for the rest of the ceremony and signing of the register.
In one sentence, please sum up your wedding day here at the Mill Forge.
This is a hard one. In one sentence I would say - A magical wedding venue, every part was perfect.
