mr and mrs mcgoldrick

Our final Blog for 2014 features the lovely Maureen & Andy McGoldrick who were married here on 9th July 2014. This story proves that the love of your life could be living right next door!!!!
How did you and Andy meet?
Andy was actually my neighbour!
What was the proposal like?
Andy proposed in a pub over drinks - he didn't have a ring, we got those a couple of weeks later.
How did you hear about the Mill Forge?
Andy's brother got married at the Mill Forge 3 years earlier.
How did you book your wedding?
We did this online. As we had already been to The Mill as wedding guests, choosing the Mill as our venue was an easy decision - we did it straight away.
How many wedding dresses did you try on before finding yours?
I tried 8 in total, it was dress number 5 I chose, which funnily enough is my favourite number.
Who was at your wedding?
We had 24 guests, 1 bridesmaid and 1 flower girl. Sandy Jamieson conducted our ceremony. We also had Craig Irving the Piper, Hazel Carpenter the Photographer, Fiona & June for my hair and make-up and we also had the Doves which were lovely.
Any surprises on the day?
For my husband there was and the staff at The Mill were great at keeping this a secret. I invited Andy's old primary school pal to our wedding with his girlfriend and kids. We all arrived the day before the wedding as did his old friend. Andy had no idea he would be there!
How was the weather?
It was a fantastic day, but I credit my dad with that. He did that from up above!
Most romantic/memorable part of your day?
Meeting my husband to be at the Anvil. I also remember the photographer saying "look at your wife" - that special feeling kicked in then!
Did you go on a honeymoon?
Yes we spent 2 weeks in Egypt.
So what plans do you have for your first anniversary?
We want to come back to The Mill for our anniversary to enjoy our room and relax. My husband also loves the Champagne!
