Mr and Mrs Haithwaite

It's time for another one of our lovely couples to share the experience of their wedding day with us. The Wedding of Paul Haithwaite & Pamela Haithwaite (nee Robertson) took place on 17th July 2010.
When and where did you first meet?
Originally met through MySpace & decided to meet at a Rugby League match back in March 2007
Where did you go on your first date?
St Helens v Bradford Bulls or first date together was to the Pictures at the Trafford Centre
How did he/she propose? (did he have a ring?)
Christmas Day morning - 2008. He had already got the ring and had it wrapped as a Christmas present.
How did you book?
We attended a Wedding Fayre at a hotel in Gretna and whilst in the area, we visited The Mill and instantly fell in love with it. We had looked at other Gretna venues but this was ideal as my Dad was a double amputee and had always wanted to walk me down the aisle. With the isle only being small, he was able to walk the few steps required. It's wonderful having everything in the one location. All the staff are very welcoming, and will try and do anything they can to help you out.
How many wedding dresses did you try on before buying your dress?
3 dresses - and I fell in love with it.
How many guests did you bring to your wedding?
We had 34 close friends and family with us on the day. 1 Page Boy, 1 Bridesmaid and 1 Best Man.
What other services did you book?
We used Alan the Piper and Carrie took our photos
Any surprises on the day?
Yes, my Bridesmaid decided to tell me after months of worrying about her dress not fitting her that she was 12 weeks pregnant!
The best gift on the day was my Dad walking me down the aisle on the day, (sadly he's no longer with us, and passed away 9 months later)
Most romantic or memorable moment of your day?
The whole day was memorable for different reasons. The sight of the pageboy when he handed over the rings to the person doing the ceremony was one memorable moment, because also at the time he didn't want to part with them.
Did you have any special songs/music on the day? Alan piped our guests over to The Forge ( chapel). Then he piped me across from my room. After we had Flower of Scotland piped as we went for the pictures taking. Our first dance was Michael Buble - Crazy Love
Did you have a honeymoon?
We had a few days in the Lake District and had 2 weeks down in Cornwall in September
Did you do anything special for your 1st anniversary??
We spent 3 or 4 days in London, seeing the sights
In one sentence, please sum up your wedding day here at the Mill Forge.
Fantastic experience with staff who are all willing to help no matter what.
