Mr and Mrs Aisthorpe

Today's Customer Q&A session features Sarah & Steven Aisthorpe who were married on the 6th of August 2012
When and where did you first meet?
We have known each other for over 20 years and grew up in the same area, but started dating in 1996.
Where did you go on your first date?
Cinema, to watch . . . . Space Jam!
How did he propose?
On Christmas Eve 1997, yes he had a ring! (yes, we had a very long engagement!)
How did you first hear about the Mill Forge?
We wanted to get married at Gretna Green, but saw The Mill Forge and decided to visit to have a look around.
How did you book?
We visited around May 2011 and booked the same day in person.
How many guests did you bring to your wedding?
16 guests, one bridesmaid and our 15 year old Son Luke was our best man and walked me down the aisle.
Who conducted your Wedding Ceremony?
The Registrar, John Young
What other services did you book?
Photographer (Paul Taylor), Cake (Rainbow Sugarcraft), Flowers (Gretna Flower Basket).
What was the weather like?
It rained all day until 14:45, we were getting married at 14:30. The rain stopped during the ceremony and started again just after the photographs were all taken. So was absolutely perfect!
Most romantic or memorable moment of your day?
Everything was memorable, we could not mention one particular thing that really stood out. There would be nothing we would change.
A particularly memorable bit was when desserts were brought out. I had a chocolate dessert and Steven had strawberry cheesecake. I said to Steven "your cheesecake looks really nice", dropping a hint. He replied "yes it is lovely" and ate it all to himself!
Did you have any special songs/music on the day?
We made a CD of all our favourite songs, which was played during the meal and evening drinks. I walked down the aisle to Chantal Kreviazuk - Feels Like Home, in tears! Now every time I hear that song it brings a lump to my throat.
Did you have a honeymoon?
We went to Luxor in Egypt.
Did you do anything special for your 1st anniversary?
Returned to The Mill Forge and stayed in our bridal suite (Room 30). Steven had arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be put in the room on arrival. The flowers were the same blue hydrangeas which we had for our wedding flowers. He also had them made by Gretna Flower Basket. We have also booked to stay again for our 3rd anniversary, again in room 30!
In one sentence, please sum up your wedding day here at the Mill Forge.
Absolutely breathtaking day, with excellent guests, perfect surroundings and impeccable service!
